Are you longing of the rural landscape as the lost Eden, a place of one's childhood, where the good air and water, the open spaces and hard and honest work of farm labor created a moral open space that contrasted sharply with the perceived evils of modern urban life?

Then, you will find perspective and meaning on 'Dedham Lock and Mill' John Constable's art print of Mary Zagoritou Gallery as an expression of the increasing importance of rural life.

Description:

John Constable was a British artist known for revolutionising the genre of landscape painting with his depictions of Dedham Vale, the area surrounding his home located on the Essex-Suffolk border in east England. In 1817 Constable produced a sketch of Dedham Mill, a mill owned and operated by his father, where he himself worked as a boy. The art print depicts the family mill. You can see the sluice and lock gate on the River Stour, and the tower of Dedham church. It is based on an oil sketch, one of several versions of the composition.

It is one of the artist's most beautiful and justifiably famous paintings.

The art print of Mary Zagoritou Gallery is gold framed and mounted.

Dimensions:

Inside: 24,6 x 16,7 cm

Framed: 41,3 x 33,3 cm

Artwork is complemented by an extra-thick window mount, creating a visual separation between print and frame.

John Constable

The English Romantic painter John Constable was born in Suffolk in1776. His great affection for the countryside - particularly the area surrounding his home- would become the subject of the vast majority of his paintings. Obsessively detailing the changes in light, cloud reflections and atmosphere of the places he observed, would become the subject of the vast majority of his paintings. Constable's painting capture the tranquility and rural domesticity of the English landscape. Constable was clearly the product of the Age of Enlightenment and its increasing confidence in science. But Constable was also deeply influenced by the social and economic impact of the industrial revolution.

These qualities of Constable's work make the stunning print timeless and perfect for classic traditional interiors or a unique precious piece of personal connection with the Lost Eden of the pre industrial revolution countryside.
